Check out the results of the summer 2021 LLS survey to the community. We have organized the results in an infographic below.
Key Learnings
Since the inception of Live Like Sam, the organization’s founders and board of directors have strived to remain focused on the unique characteristics and attributes that keep Sam’s legacy vibrant and a source of positive energy in the community. Partnerships with Utah State University in 2020 and with Pathway Associates in 2021 were established to a) fine-tune the focus of the Foundation and b) to carefully align the strategic direction of the organization to meet the most pressing unfilled needs of Park City area youth.
From this work and careful attention to input from community stakeholders, the following essential conclusions emerged.
The five essential characteristics of living like Sam are:
- Self-Awareness
- Courage
- Kindness
- Joy
- Leadership
Other important findings include:
- The social and emotional health of youth was identified as a very high priority among community leaders. The secondary importance of building a sense of community-mindedness among youth was also recognized.
- While numerous sport-related opportunities for youth exist in Park City, opportunities to pursue interests outside of sport are limited, particularly for youth from less affluent backgrounds.
- Supporting diverse populations in our community is a priority.
- Face-to-face interactions between youth and adult leaders are viewed as moreimpactful social media-based platforms. The legacy of Sam Jackenthal remains vibrant and inspiring to those who knew him and those who hold dear his unique spirit. As a result, the Live Like Sam Foundation believes it is uniquely positioned to play a role in delivering high-impact social-emotional programming and recognition opportunities to enhance the lives of youth in the Park City Community.
